General Summary:

We are offering a product management position for a qualified person to be an integral part of developing and managing the growth of Mpower Communications' broadband packet-based voice and data services. This is the ideal position for a product manager who is interested in working for a high-tech, high-speed broadband telecommunications company. The position will include financial analysis, competitive analysis, market planning, product specifications, pricing and roll out. The ideal candidate will be able to manage existing voice and integrated product lines, pricing strategies and educate sales staff with product information. Additional responsibilities include managing issues required to ensure Mpower Communications remains competitive in current and future markets.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Market research and competitive analysis: Perform targeted market research and quantify market opportunity that drives product development as well as positioning to the sales force.
  2. Define feature set & product requirements: Develop and manage service specifications (Product Description) for our Voice and Integrated IP voice and data product lines.
  3. Ownership of voice and integrated products through the entire lifecycle process.
  4. Work jointly with Product Development to ensure development is moving ahead on schedule and provide status to management team.
  5. Develop product positioning to include pricing and promotion strategies for each product with our product portfolio.
  6. Manage product margins and profitability for voice and integrated voice and data products.
  7. Work with Marketing Communications and Field Marketing to develop product branding and packaging.
  8. Support Field Marketing and Sales Training by giving product launch presentations, demonstrating the product sales and solution collateral.
  9. Work closely with Marketing Communications on internal and external promotions for the product portfolio.
  10. Identify and develop new business/product opportunities.
  11. Strong interpersonal skills, including intangible such as poise and presence.
  12. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize issues.
  13. Person must be flexible and willing to travel.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personality Traits:

  • Significant direct experience with telecom product development of internetworking or telecommunications products is necessary. This is a highly technical position and requires a strong product development background with excellent OSS experience and knowledge.
  • The candidate should have significant experience (5 years +) in one or more of: product marketing, product management, customer requirements and customer presentations (either pre-sales or post sales).
  • Experience in telecom, Internet, WAN/LAN network integration industries.

Education and Experience:

A BA/BS degree with 3 to 5 years of industry experience or an MBA in Finance with 2 to 3 years of industry experience.
