Mpower Communications Extends Relationship With Copper Mountain As Its Primary Broadband DSL Equipment Provider

PALO ALTO, Calif., - February 20, 2001 - Copper Mountain Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: CMTN), a leading provider of Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) solutions for business and residential users, and Mpower Communications Corp. (NASDAQ: MPWR), a provider of broadband data, Internet and telephony services to business customers, today announced that they are extending their partnership with a three-year agreement.

"Copper Mountain has helped equip our service delivery platform with the technology that enables us to offer business customers a complete package of voice and data solutions," said Joe Wetzel, President of Operations for Mpower Communications. "Over the past two years, Copper Mountain has provided us with great products and excellent customer support. We are very excited to extend our relationship."

Under the terms of the agreement, Copper Mountain will be Mpower's primary provider of DSL equipment in the company's central offices, remote terminals and customer site deployments. Mpower's integrated voice and high-speed data network encompasses more than 700 central office collocations and spans 40 major markets nationwide.

"Mpower is a leader in commercial broadband deployment and we are very pleased that it has selected Copper Mountain as its primary DSL equipment provider," said Rick Gilbert, chief executive officer of Copper Mountain. "Mpower understands that supporting and scaling the value-added services that will drive the broadband market necessitates a network infrastructure that provides IP intelligence and that's exactly what we're doing."
