Mpower Communications Installs Switch in St. Louis Bringing Advanced Voice Communications Services to Business Customers
ROCHESTER, NY - February 20, 2001 - Mpower Communications Corp. (NASDAQ: MPWR), a provider of broadband data, Internet and telephony services to business customers, today announced it has turned up a switch in St. Louis that will provide facilities-based advanced voice communications services to business customers in that region.
"This on-net voice service, combined with our local data offering which includes DSL, ISDN and dedicated Internet access, provides a compelling and economical solution for our target market of small- and mid-size business customers with 20 to 100 employees," said Rolla P. This new switch will serve Mpower markets in the Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas region. Currently, Mpower has network facilities in 98 central office collocations in this region alone. In addition, existing Mpower business customers in St. Louis and Kansas City, most of which were acquired through the company's acquisition of Primary Network in June 2000, will have the opportunity to convert onto this advanced voice communication platform over the coming months.
Nationwide, Mpower's network footprint includes 16 voice switches and more than 760 central office collocations that serve 40 markets with approximately 11 million addressable lines in its targeted segment.
