Is the Adtran a Router or a Bridged Device?

By default, the ADTRAN is a Router and defaults to a routed mode.

Upon request, we can Bridge the Adtran, effectively removing the routing function.

This is needed if you have your own Router on your network.

What is the Default DHCP Scope in the ADTRAN?

Gateway = 10.0.0.100

DHCP scope = 10.0.0.101 – 10.0.0.254

Static Internal IP’s = 10.0.0.1 – 10.0.0.99

What DNS should I use in my TCP/IP Configuration?

Preferred = 208.57.196.4

Secondary = 208.57.196.5

What lights should I see on the Modem/Adtran?

PWR NET/BATT/LINK = Should all be green and solid.

DATA/VOICE = Will blink when in use.

TX/RX = Should be blinking green if data is passing.

V.35 RX / V.35 TX = Are not used.

What is an authorized user?

An authorized user is listed on the account to be able to make changes to the service being provided by Mpower (i.e. adding/deleting telephone lines, changing service, router modifications, etc.)

What are the differences between an Mpower issues vs. LAN issue?

If one computer is able to access the Internet through the Mpower Connection the trouble is with the internal network. Please consult with your I.T. technician or whom takes care of your computers.

What is the difference between a Straight Through Cable and a Crossover Cable?

When connecting to the Mpower Modem you would use a Crossover cable from the Computer port to your computer and use a straight-through cable from the Hub port to your router.  You should have a green LAN light if the devices are connected properly.  When connecting to the Mpower Adtran you would use a crossover cable to your Computer, or Router, and a Straight Through cable to connect to your hub or Switch. Some Routers can auto sense which cable you've used and will adjust automatically.  You should have a green LAN light if the devices are connected properly.

What is the difference between Full-Bridge, Mock-Bridge and Routed Mode.

Full-Bridge Mode – is needed when you have your own router that is doing NAT and DHCP behind the Mpower Adtran.

Mock-Bridge Mode – is needed when you want a one-to-one port mapping from your Public IP address to an Internal IP address within your network.

Routed Mode – is needed when you want the Mpower Adtran to act as your router. All port mappings or changes need to be called in to our 24x7 Technical Support (888-777-5802) by an authorized user.
